Major wastewater works in Westmeath have surpassed the halfway point.
The €114m upgrade in Athlone aims to reduce the risk of sewer flooding in the town, while addressing non-compliant overflows to the River.
1.6km of the 2.8km underground sewer pipes have been installed so far.
