The latest Value My Home report has revealed harrowing news for prospective home buyers in the region.
Offaly is one of the only counties in the country to see a reduction in house prices since last quarter.
The latest Value My Home report has shown the average cost of a home in the midlands is around €230,000.
The average price of a home in Offaly is €225,000, a decrease of €3,000 from last quarter, but a massive increase of €55,000 from this period last year.
The increase in Westmeath is less significant, up €32,000 from last year to €238,000 in the third quarter of 2022.
The average price of a home in the county, however, is the most expensive in the region.
Laois has seen the smallest jump between the three counties, at €229 this year, an increase of €20,000 from 2021.
There were 300 homes sold in Westmeath in the third quarter of this year, the most in the region. This is also the highest jump year-on-year in home sales in the country.
There were 260 homes sold in Laois, and 241 in Offaly.
