Westmeath remains the most expensive county in the region, at €280,000.
The midlands has seen another increase on the median cost of a home according to the most recent CSO figures.
People looking for somewhere to live in the region will be set back an average of more than €260,000, as of August this year.
The most expensive county for prospective home buyers in the midlands remains Westmeath, which is now at €280,000 - that's followed by Laois at €263,000 and in Offaly the price of a home is around €241,000.
The Residential Property Price Index shows an increase nationally of over 10% in the 12 months to August, with a median cost of €345,000.
Longford holds position as the county with the lowest price in the country, at €175,000, while Dún Laoghaire maintains the most expensive spot at €635,000.
Niall Corkery, Statistician in the Prices Division for the CSO says "Outside Dublin, house prices were up by 9.5% and apartment prices increased by 10.1%."
"In August 2024, 3,990 dwelling purchases by households at market prices were filed with the Revenue Commissioners, a decrease of 14.0% when compared with the 4,640 purchases in August 2023."
