That's according to AIT's Professor Mark Cashin, who says timber has more than tripled in price and aluminium costs have increased by almost 70percent.
It's because of the pandemic, Brexit and ongoing fallout from the Suez shipping hold-up.
Professor Cashin, who lectures on Supply Chain Management, believes increased demand will encourage many people to pay higher prices.
He says computer chips are a good example of the new reality.
