New figures from the CSO show the average employee in the region earned a weekly wage of €733.
Laois residents were paid the most, at €749, followed by €740 in Westmeath and €711 in Offaly.
Men in the midlands earned €818 on average every week, while women received substantially less, at €647.
The average wage across the country was €820.
