Midlands North West MEP Maria Walsh has passed an amendment calling on the EU to ramp up the detection and prevention of deepfakes.
These are images, videos or voice note in which somebody's face, body or voice has been digitally altered so that they appear to be someone else and is typically used to spread disinformation.
The Fine Gael MEP who is a member of the Women's Rights and Gender Equality Committee says it's also having an impact on the number of females entering politics:
