Staff at a midlands power plant have signed off on a deal which would see them benefit from a pay rise of 9% over the next two years.
SIPTU says its members at the site in Edenderry have voted by a 'large majority' to accept the terms of a Labour Court recommendation.
It also provides for the restoration of three extra days of leave and health insurance coverage, which the company had unilaterally removed from workers who commenced work at the power station in 2020 and later.
The agreement was reached after a year of negotiations.
SIPTU Sector Organiser, John Regan, says their "members’ position was always that all workers at the plant should be treated equally and have the same terms and conditions of employment. This goal has been achieved. As a trade union, we will always seek to secure equity for workers who do the same job no matter when they are hired. In the long run, ensuring that terms and conditions are not eroded for more recent employees protects all our members’ interests."
