New figures from the Central Statistics Office show 37% of Ireland's workers in the industry hail from the region.
Meanwhile, the midlands is responsible for the least amount of gas, steam and air conditioning supply workers, with only 3% coming from the region.
The South-West region holds the highest number of workers in the area, with 32.2%.
