The latest market report from Daft.ie has found the average rent across the country between October and December last year was €1,733.
Rents in the country soared by 13.7% last year, the highest figure since Daft.ie began recording the data.
In Westmeath, market rents were on average 17.3% higher than a year previously, the jump was 15% in Offaly while they went up 12.8% in Laois,
The average rent nationwide now stands at €1,700.
The average rent in the midlands has soared to €1,330.
Westmeath is the most expensive county in the region in which to rent, the average listed rent is now €1398, up 152% from its lowest point.
In Laois, the average cost of rent is €1,292, up 145% from its lowest point, while in Offaly it will cost €1302 to rent a home every month, up 135% from its lowest point.
There were just over 1,000 homes available to rent nationwide on February 1st, down over 20% on the same date last year.
In Limerick city, only nine properties were available to rent on that date.
