New tenants in Laois and Westmeath face increases.
Housing charity Threshold is urging the government to consider renters in the upcoming budget.
Figures from the Residential Tenancies Board show the average annual rent increase was 9.5% for Q1 of this year.
The figures in Laois and Westmeath are now averaging over a thousand euro per month.
While Offaly's rate is at just over €900 per month.
Rural areas appear to have been hit the hardest, as counties such as Cavan and Roscommon have seen a 20% increase.
Threshold’s Policy Officer, Ann-Marie O’Reilly believes the government could offer short-term solutions.
