An Offaly Councillor says schools can create their own energy with the scheme.
Schools in the midlands will be able to save over a thousand euro with the extension of a solar energy scheme.
A select number of primary and secondary schools in Offaly took part in the 'Solar for Schools Programme' pilot last year
Up to 6 kilowatt PV installations were provided for school roofs-which is the power of 14 solar panels.
The scheme will now be extended to schools in Laois and Westmeath-with applications opening on November 11th.
