
The people of Offaly have been spending the most on average.
Spending on groceries in the midlands has increased by 30 per cent since covid-19 first hit Ireland.
March 12th - the day schools shut and people were first asked to work from home - was the busiest day for spending, according to stats from AIB.
Shoppers in Offaly paid the most - with an average €90 spent on each grocery transaction, compared to €50 the Thursday before.
That was €86 in Westmeath, compared to €58 the previous week - and €78 in Laois, up from €51.
