Bord na Móna Recycling workers have voted overwhelmingly for to take industrial action.
Bord na Móna Recycling workers in Laois, Offaly, and Westmeath have voted to take strike action in a row over employment terms.
The ballot was conducted by SIPTU in depots across 12 counties.
Workers don't want the company to be privatised and say they're attempting to protect the country's "last remaining publicly-owned" bin company.
SIPTU says it raises questions about the future of the semi-state sector in Ireland.
SIPTU Divisional Organiser, Adrian Kane, said: “The ballot for strike action was carried overwhelmingly by 95% to 5%. Our members are clear in their aim of protecting the last remaining publicly owned domestic waste collection service which is the industry leader in terms of environmental responsibility, health and safety standards and workers’ rights.
