They're headed to Syria as part of the UN's ongoing peace-keeping mission.
Soldiers from Laois, Offaly and Westmeath are among 129 embarking on the Defence Forces' latest peace-keeping mission today.
They'll be part of the ongoing UN effort to maintain peace between Israel and Syria in Golan.
The 64th Infantry Group will spend their time monitoring the designated area of separation between the two.
51 participants are on their first mission abroad.
The Group will rotate into the mission area in October 2021 under the command of Lieutenant Colonel James O’Shea.
The 129 personnel consist of all ranks, including 14 Officers, 114 Enlisted Personnel and 1 Chaplain.
