The register or some equivalent is common in the majority of EU countries.
Calls are being made for Ireland to establish a National Wills Register, to keep record of a person's final wishes after their passing.
Currently, there is no system in place where a will can be officially documented for the family members, unless a copy of the will has been shared or someone else has been told about it.
The majority of EU Member States already have such a register or equivalent set up.
