Midlands TD Speaks Out About Importation Of Timber From Scotland

There's currently a backlog of harvesting licenses in Ireland.

Sawmill businesses are being forced to import timber from Scotland because of the backlog in harvesting licenses, according to a midlands TD.

Sinn Fein's Brian Stanley says there's a huge knock on affect for a number of industry including farming, suppliers and the construction sector.

The Laois/Offaly TD believes action must be taken to address the delays immediately:
