New Planning Permission Rules On Solar Panels To Come Into Effect From July 

Home-owners will no longer need to go through the planning process to install solar panels.

New planning permission regulations on solar panels will come into effect from the end of July. 

Residential dwellings will no longer need to apply for authorisation when putting solar units on their homes. 

The exemption will also apply to many commercial buildings, such as churches and schools.

Junior Planning Minister and Longford-Westmeath Fine Gael TD Deputy Peter Burke hopes it will encourage homeowners to switch to a more sustainable energy source:
