A coal mine turned wildlife-friendly garden will open in Laois this weekend.

Turra Lodge Farm in Ballickmoyler has been developed on the site of a former open cast coal mine, which has been closed for over 30 years.

Nectar rich flowers have been planted in the garden in a bid to attract wildlife back to the area.

Turra Lodge will open every Saturday and Sunday from 11am-5pm.
