There are no patients on trolleys around the midlands today.

However, figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show 507 people are waiting for beds in hospitals nationwide.

359 are in emergency departments, while 148 are in wards.

Cork University Hospital is the worst affected by overcrowding, with 84 patients on trolleys.

That's followed by 83 at University Hospital Limerick, and 58 at University Hospital Galway.
