Cars Should Not Be Able To Do More Than 140kmh - IRVA

There are plans to reduce the speed limit on rural roads later this year.

There is no reason any car should be able to go above 140km/h.

That's according to the Vice President of the Irish Road Victims Association, Leo Lieghio, who is making the comments as the Government plans to reduce local road speed limits from 80 to 60km/h later this year.

109 people have died so far this year on Irish roads, three of those happened in Westmeath and another three in Offaly, while Laois remains the only county in Ireland to not have a road fatality.
