An Independent TD says the number of people in the midlands waiting for a speech and language therapy appointment is a 'national disgrace.'
There are 4,000 people on a waiting list in CHO Area 8, which includes Laois, Offaly and Westmeath - the highest number in the country.
Nearly 130 of those have been waiting longer than a year and a half.
Nationally, the total figure is 19,000.
