Offaly Boxing Club Calling For Tax Incentives For Sporting Volunteers

It can cost up to €400 to train a volunteer at the gym.

Tax incentives should be available to volunteers at midlands sporting clubs.

That's the call from Liam Brereton, of St. Brigid's Boxing Club in Edenderry, who says it can cost up to €400 for a volunteer to be trained up at the gym.

Ireland Active is also campaigning for the introduction of tax incentives for gym memberships, in a bid to promote exercise and reduce illness.

Mr. Brereton says such measures would allow his club to train more children:
