Offaly Councillor Becomes Senator Today

The Green Party rep says she's eager to bring a rural voice to Leinster House.

An Offaly councillor is taking up her new seat in the Seanad today.

The Green Party's Pippa Hackett has been running unopposed in a bye-election to replace her party colleague Grace O'Sullivan - who was elected to the European Parliament in May.

The now Senator Hackett will also contest the next general election in Laois-Offaly.

She says she's eager to represent a rural concerns in Leinster House:
