Offaly County Council Set To Present Improvement Plans On "Peat Foundation" Roads

Most of the counties roads are built on peat foundations.

Offaly County Council is to present the findings of a pilot project on improving road longevity in the county in the coming weeks.

Over half of the local road network is built on peat foundations, meaning that roads only last 3 years at most, before needing to undergo works.

The engineering department is carrying out an investigation to create a long term foundation for the roads.
