A Sinn Fein Councillor brought the motion to an MD meeting.
The Palestinian flag is set to be raised over Offaly County Council buildings.
It follows a motion by Sinn Fein Councillor Claire Murray, to fly the flag for the month of February.
It comes as phase one of a cease fire agreement in Gaza has been made.
Ms Murray says it's a message of solidarity from the people of the midlands:
