Offaly Power Station Could See Licence Extended To 2030

Bord Na Mona is looking for a licence to operate biomass only generation between 2024-2030.

Bord Na Mona is applying for planning permission to operate biomass power generation in Offaly.

The current licence at Edenderry Power station was due to expire in 2022, if successful it could now be extended until 2030.

The news comes in the week that operations at the Shannonbridge power station are being wound down.

Edenderry Fianna Fail Councillor Robert McDermott says it's welcome news for the workers.
