Offaly Woman Praised For Waiving Anonymity In Her Case

Lisa O'Meara waived her anonymity to inspire women in similar situations.

A domestic abuse support worker has praised an Offaly woman's bravery in waiving her right to anonymity so that her rapist could be named.

Lisa O'Meara said in her impact statement her reason was in order to encourage other women in similar situations to come forward and get justice for themselves.

Barry Murphy was convicted of 14 and a half years for coercive control, rape and sexual assault of his ex-partner yesterday.
