It follows intervention from a midlands TD.
Bus Eireann has confirmed there are enough eligible students to reinstate a school route in Laois.
11 children in the Emo area could get their seat on a bus to Mountmellick if Education Minister Norma Foley approves the request.
Parents in Laois have been asking for additional services after a number of children were left without a place on buses due to the high demand this year.
Laois Offaly Sean Fleming says there was a family whose children had used the bus service to commute to and from school in Portlaoise on an existing bus service on a concessionary basis that were not issued tickets for this school year. He has now spoken with the Minister Foley and Bus Eireann and says that this has now been sorted and the tickets are being issued in the coming days.
Minister Fleming has assured the parents group that he has already made contact with Minister Foley and will be meeting with her in person in the coming days. He says he will be insisting that approval be granted to re-instate this school bus service from Emo to Mountmellick for all families concerned as urgently as possible.
The Laois-Offaly Deputy says the issue arose because the School Transport Scheme has been oversubscribed:
