They have since been taken into the care of specialised rescuers.
Over 120 birds have been seized after being found in what the ISPCA describes as 'deplorable' conditions in the midlands.
Parrots, parakeets and budgies were among the birds found by inspectors.
Inspector Lyndsey Delaney says they found the birds surrounded by a build-up of faeces, rotten food, fly infestation, and webs in the cages.
The seizure came as part of a multi-agency operation, organised by the ISPCA, involving Gardaí, the HSE, and the National Parks and Wildlife Service, during which all birds were removed from the premises.
They are now in the care of specialised rescues.
Inspector Delaney says:
'This was an extremely challenging situation to deal with, both in terms of the logistics, and the physical conditions in which we had to operate.
The smell inside was indescribable and as a result, fume masks had to be worn.
We struggled to operate in the environment for a few minutes at a time, it's unbelievable to think these birds lived in there for years.'
