Nationally, that figure reaches more than 33,000.
More than 1,900 dwellings in the midlands have seen works started in the first half of this year.
The highest number is in Westmeath at 820 so far in 2024, followed by Laois with just under 800, and in Offaly over 300 homes have begun works.
In June, just under 30 commencement notices were given in the region.
Nationally, 33,784 home have commenced which is more than double when compared to the same period last year.
