Tenants have told a midlands TD they must leave by July 12th.
Up to 47 midlands tenants could be facing homelessness this summer, with a number of apartments due to be sold.
Laois Offaly Independent TD Carol Nolan says a number of people living in the Riverview Complex in Kilbeggan have been in contact with her - they've been told they must leave by July 12th.
Both Offaly and Westmeath County Council have confirmed a number of tenants on the Housing Assistance Payment scheme have received a notice of termination.
They also say they'll be liaising with qualifying households to provide support over the coming months.
Deputy Nolan says it's a very distressing situation:
In a statement to Midlands 103, Offaly County Council says:
"Offaly County Council is aware that a Notice of Termination has been issued to a number of tenants at the Riverview Complex in Kilbeggan. A number of the tenancies in the complex are on Offaly County Council’s Social Housing Support List and are in receipt of Intercounty Housing Assistance Payments. The Council will be liaising with qualifying households to provide support over the coming months."
While Westmeath County Council says:
"Westmeath County Council is aware that Notice of Termination has been issued to a number of tenants at the Riverview Complex in Kilbeggan. There are a number of the tenants in the complex that are in receipt of Housing Assistance Payment and Intercounty Housing Assistance Payment. Westmeath County Council will be liaising with qualifying households, to provide support to find alternative accommodation, over the coming months."
