That's down to the work of students in the region.
Midlands students have saved over 80,000 used batteries from landfill in the last school year.
Laois saved 21,350, in Offaly 33,800 have been gathered and 30,600 batteries have been saved in Westmeath.
AA batteries equating to the weight of almost four school buses were recycled by primary and secondary students around the country.
It was part of a competition run by WEEE Ireland, which saw six schools win vouchers for their commitment to sustainability.
