Over €19m Sports Capital Grant To Go To Midlands

Nationally, just under 2,000 grants have been announced.

Sports clubs across the midlands are in line to receive an "unprecedented"  €19m in State funding.

The Sports Capital and Equipment Grant scheme is set to provide €7.4m to clubs and organisations in Westmeath.

The figure is €6.2m for Laois, with Offaly in line for €6.1m.

Nationally, just under 2,000 grants have been announced to a total value of €230m .

Sports Minister Thomas Byrne says the money will reach clubs in all corners of the region:
