People Waiting Over A Year For Autism Assessment In The Midlands

Legislation says all testing needs to be completed within six months of the application.

Wait times for autism assessments in the midlands have risen to an average of between 12-18 months.

That's despite legislation saying all testing should be completed within six months of the initial application.

The figures are for health area CH08, which includes Laois, Offaly and Westmeath.

Longford-Westmeath Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy says private consultants could be used to tackle this backlog-and says that some consultants have also contacted him directly about it:
