Planning permission for the school in Laois was granted in February of last year.
The development of a new special education school in the midlands has been put on hold.
58 projects, including Kolbe Special School in Portlaoise, have been post-poned due to a lack of Capital funding, according to a statement from the Department of Education.
Planning permission for the eight-classroom building, along with a GP area, was granted in February of last year.
The Department says it's working with the Department of Public Expenditure and NPD Delivery and Reform in relation to Capital funding pressures, in an effort to minimise further delays.
