A supplier dumped a couple of hundred faulty straighteners at a recycling centre in Athlone this week after the product was recalled by the manufacturer.
However, the 'Alterego'-brand straighteners are back in circulation and on the market for €10.
Sergeant Andrew Haran from Athlone Garda Station says the products are highly dangerous:
