A new report shows one-in-four Irish people would give up a fifth of their State pension to get it earlier.
Taking a reduced pension could be a cause of hardhship for older people later in life.
That's according to Roscommon Galway Independent TD Denis Naughten as a new report shows one in four Irish people would give up a fifth of their state pension in order to get access to it earlier.
He cited health experts who claim people who continue to work at least part time beyond 66-years-old tend to live longer and be healthier.
Deputy Naughten says he would not be in favour of offering anyone a reduced pension:
