"Red Tape" Around Farming Industry Driving Shift Away From Main Political Parties

Farmers would be interested in voting for a farmers party if there was one.

Frustration among farmers and "red tape" around the industry is driving a shift away from the main political parties.

The Irish Farmers Association is making the comments as a new survey has found almost two thirds in the sector would give their first preference vote to a farmers' party if one emerged.

The poll for the Irish Farmers Journal also shows support for Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue is falling, with only 1 in 5 believing he's doing a good job.
