The programme has strong Midlands representation with over 300 students having taken part since 2021.
A new report on a STEM programme is recommending stronger funding to all DEIS schools.
Over 300 students in the Midlands have taken part in the STEM Passport for Inclusion programme since its pilot in 2021 -267 students in Offaly, with 50 in Laois and 47 in Westmeath.
It's run by the Department of Education, Maynooth University and Microsoft Ireland in order to make careers in STEM more accessible to disadvantaged students.
The impact report states proper funding would mean the programme would be available in every DEIS school in the country.
It also recommends loaning resources and introducing funded work experience programmes to boost skill development.
