It follows concerns the beds were due to be used for rehab patients.
The HSE says respite services at a midlands residential unit aren't being discontinued.
It follows concerns from Fianna Fáil Peter Ormond, who claimed the beds at Birr Community Nursing Unit will be used for rehab patients instead.
However, the Health Service says the additional supports for those patients are being discharged from Tullamore Hospital.
It also says the respite services at the unit will not be affected.
In a statement to Midlands 103, a Spokesperson for the Health Service says:
"Respite services in Birr Community Nursing Unit are not being discontinued.
Additional rehabilitation supports for patients being discharged from Tullamore Hospital are being put in place in the unit, but this does not affect any ongoing provision of respite for our community patients."
