"Significant" Investment Needed To Bring Maternity Hospitals Up To Standard

The issue was brought before the Health Minister in the Dáil.

Many maternity hospitals around the country are "outdated" and would require "significant" investments to bring them up to the standards that women deserve. 

That's according to Longford Westmeath TD, Sorca Clarke, who brought the issue before the Health Minister in the Dáil.

The Sinn Féin representative voiced concerns over funding for the National Maternity Strategy.

Deputy Clarke says this could raise questions over measures such as implementing HIQA standards, delivering safe staffing levels and the roll out of community based midwifery care:
