The facility shut down in 2020.
The Tánaiste says he'd like to think the State will be in a position to provide funding to Longford County Council for the loss of Lough Ree Power Station.
The facility in Lanesborough closed in 2020, resulting in a five-year loss of rates of €1.2 million per annum.
In the four years since, the Government has provided funding of the same amount to the local authority.
