Around 6,000 acres of forest have been damaged by fires in the last five years, the largest of which was in Laois in 2018.
Forestry workers and firefighters are on high alert this weekend with breezy, dry weather driving up the risk of wild fires.
A status orange alert is now in place, including for the Slieve Blooms, until 12pm on Tuesday.
