Status Red Warning Issued For Two Midlands Counties

Laois will also fall under a Status Orange warning.

Status Red wind warnings have been issued to five counties, with Met Éireann warning that Storm Debi brings a "potential danger to life".

Clare, east Galway and south Roscommon will be under the highest level warning from 3 to 5am, while Offaly and Westmeath will be under the red warning from 5 to 7am.

19 counties will be under a status Orange wind warning from 2 to 10am tomorrow, while a status Yellow rain wind and rain warning is in place across the country up to 3pm tomorrow.

The forecaster is working with the National Emergency Co-ordination Group on how to respond best to the powerful storm.

The National Emergency Co-ordination Group is urging schools in RED AND ORANGE COUNTIES to stay closed until 10AM tomorrow.


It's to allow emergency services to clear roads from debris. It is up to school management if they should close for the full day.
