Taoiseach Believes Lissywollen IPAS Centre Issue Should Not Have Reached The Courts

Athlone representatives are aiming to block construction on the site.

The Taoiseach believes a dispute between councillors in Westmeath and the Department of Integration should never have reached the courts.

All reps in the Athlone area are challenging the legality of the proposed development of a tented IPAS centre in Athlone by the Department of Integration on environmental grounds.

A legal team has now been hired to take a judicial review of Minister Roderic O'Gorman's order to proceed with construction in Lissywollen.

They're also applying for interlocutory injunctive relief in a bid to stop construction on the site.
