Taoiseach Says Holyhead Port Unlikely To Be Open Before Christmas

A meeting has taken place between the Transport Minister and his Welsh counterpart.

Holyhead port is unlikely to reopen before Christmas, according to the Taoiseach.

Speaking in Dun Laoghaire, Simon Harris said a meeting between the Transport Minister Eamon Ryan, and Welsh counterpart Ken Skate is continuing this afternoon.

They're seeking further updates on the scale of the damage and repairs needed at Holyhead.

Ger Hyland, President of the Irish Road Haulage association, says other measures are being put in place - but those will take time to set up:
