The Radio Industry Mourns The Death Of Broadcaster Michael Reade

Michael made his first radio broadcast 43 years ago at the age of 15. 

The radio industry is mourning the death of former Midlands 103 broadcaster Michael Reade.

The 58-year-old revealed last month how he had been diagnosed with cancer, poignantly describing it as an argument he could not win.

He presented ‘All Things Considered’, a predecessor of The Midlands Today Show, during the 1990s and took up a new role with LMFM 21 years ago.

Michael made his first radio broadcast 43 years ago at the age of 15. 

Tánaiste Michael Martin says Michael Reade firm, courteous, and respectful:

My deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Michael Reade, a broadcaster who made an incredible contribution to the people of Louth and Meath.

A firm but fair interviewer, Michael’s show on LMFM was essential radio for more than two decades on the issues that mattered most to his listeners.

I always enjoyed my interviews with Michael and appreciated his courtesy and respect.

He faced his final days with typical courage and dignity.

Michael’s passing is a great loss for public service broadcasting.
