The US Secret Service is denying diverting resources away from a Donald Trump rally where he was targeted in an assassination attempt.

The former president - who's arrived in Wisconsin for the Republicans' national convention - says it's a 'miracle' he survived.

One man was killed, two other people were seriously hurt during the gun attack. 

Meanwhile Joe Biden's urged Americans to 'lower the temperature of politics' during an address from the Oval Office.

He says unity is now needed.
