The County Council had been waiving parking charges recently.
Time-limited parking is being re-introduced in Laois.
The County Council had suspended payment for local authority parking areas where time limit measures are in place in Portlaoise, Portarlington and Mountmellick.
But from today, vehicles parked in excess of the signed time limits will be at risk of fixed penalty notices.
However, fees are still being waived by Laois County Council in other public car parks, until Phase 3 of the coronavirus roadmap.
