Vacant Seats Left On Midlands County Councils Following General Election

People will be co-opted onto the local authorities.

There are now a number of vacant council seats across Laois, Offaly and Westmeath.

Fine Gael's Willie Aird will be required to co-opt someone for his seat in Portlaoise after he topped the general election poll in the O'Moore County.

In Offaly, Tony McCormack of Fianna Fail is leaving his Tullamore seat vacant when he joins the 34th Dáil, as is Fine Gael's John Clendennen in Birr.

While In Longford-Westmeath Kevin Boxer Moran is departing the Athlone-Moate Municipal District.
